It connects almost instantaneously, it takes it about a second to reconnect and be operational. There is no noticeable delay, so much so that I have been using it for gaming without any issues, not to mention typing and other office applications. Compared to the previous versions of the keyboard, the Delete key is finally not a secondary function. The feel of the buttons is quite standard and is better than on the current Lenovo Thinkpad lineup, better defined bumps and stiffer.
It have not had any clashes with other devices on the Bluetooth bus. I use it quite often with a headset and have not noticed any problems or degradation of performance. The only issue I have had is the Bluetooth disconnecting occasionally, but I still don't know if it is because I am using it with batteries from the pound store or the keyboard itself. The issue occurs rarely enough for me to not notice.
Positives:
- The keyboard is light and yet seems sturdy; perfect for the mobile worker (Note: I use this product with a wireless mouse and laptop riser to avoid consultants hunch)
- Set up was very easy, a matter of seconds to be up and running
Negatives:
- For UK users, it lacks a £ sign on the keyboard. Use shift and 3 (The keyboard shows #). This is not the only instance of this problem as the # is available by pressing the backslash key...you get the picture.
Most important bit: At times the keyboard is not as responsive as I would like. I have had to slow down my typing to ensure the key stroke registers. As I'm often typing by touch whilst referring to other material having to go back to fix missed spaces or letters is a real hassle.
Whilst typing this review I've had the issue 7 times.
In summary, great little package, but the typing experience is not as good as expected. Combine this with the 'key issue' previously mentioned and it's a loser for me.
I bought this keyboard because I find the chiclet type keyboard most comfortable for typing on at speed e.g. apple's. I also bought this particular model because it is compatible with windows xp and the space on my work desk is limited so I like the idea of being able to easily move it to one side so I can use that space for something else from time to time. I have bought anker products (batteries and chargers in the past and have found them to be of superb quality. This one is just OK - far from perfect and 100% practical.
Pros:
-Great compact size and good sized keys
-Feels alright to type on but noticably falls short in matching the quality feel of Apple's official keyboard
-Relatively easy to connect first time
- The hotkeys work well with windows xp
Cons:
-Upon loading up windows and starting to enter text, your first keystroke is not registered, it seems to take a few moments for the keyboard to bluetooth connect before you can start typing away. This could be a power saving function of the keyboard to go to sleep when not in use for some time. The fact that if I go away from the computer and come backa few minutes later, the same issue occurs.
-You have to type harder than you would with an apple keyboard - if not sometimes it misses a keystroke
- A numberpad would have been nice and would not have taken up that much extra room. (Maybe there is another model that has one)
- Ctrl Alt Delete; to bring up the task manager on windows xp doesn't seem to work despite trying all combinations using the 'fn' key.
- You cannot use this keyboard to access safe mode on a PC because it doesnt start working until windows fully loads up - meaning you cannot completely do away with a cable connected keyboard.
- An LED to show that the keyboard is successfully connected would have been useful. All there is is a low battery warning light
Eventually made it into the trash. Would not recommend.
Don't buy this keyboard if you are expecting full Android functionality, unless you are prepared to shell out a couple of quid for an external keyboard helper app.
