Over the years, I bought several Case Logic cases which are usually well-priced, well-built, light and durable. And they offer a good level of protection, which is the point right? Based on my experience, the QHDC-101 case is no exception.
I bought it with the Samsung M3 1TB USB 3.0 Slimline Portable Hard Drive [13.5 x 8.9 x 3.8 cm] to back up my Macbook Pro. The semi-rigid exterior feels reassuringly protective and If there isn't much padding inside the case, I confirm that the elastic strap does a good job securing the hard drive which is critical when you are on the move. The other side of the case, the pocket, proves very useful to carry a few accessories like a cable or a SD card.
To give you an idea of the capacity of the case, I also used it with:
1. the 'RAVPower 16000mAh Portable Charger Power Bank External Battery Pack' [12.7 x 8.1 x 2.2 cm]: it's a super tight fit, but it works (there is no room for anything else though)
2. the iPhone 6s [13.83 x 6.71 x 0.71 cm]: this could be perceived as a rather silly test, but I was just trying to use devices we are all familiar with...

This is a very good quality hard drive case, and so much better than my previous one.
The best way to show you what this is like and its features is via a video, so I have made a video review. If you do not enlarge the video to full screen, it sometimes plays with sound but no video (a blank, black screen) - this seems to be an Amazon glitch. To cure it, press the 'full screen' icon. If you are reading this on a mobile phone, you may be unable to view the video - you will be able to watch it on a computer or tablet.
I made this video almost two years after buying this case - the case is showing no signs of wear.

I have bought 4 of these cases over the last few years but the last one received today is 10mm thinner than all the others. I just checked the sizes on the Amazon page and the size of this latest one is listed as 38mm thick however all my previous ones were 48mm. A WD Elements drive is now a really tight fit and I would not have ordered if I knew Case Logic had changed the sizes.

I don't know if I am wasting my time giving an honest review because last time I did so Amazon refused to print it.. but anyway, here goes. Amazon asked me to give a review so who am I to refuse. What do I want in a hard drive case? I had just purchased from Amazon a "My Passport" drive for my new Dell laptop and as a proud new father I felt that it needed a home, so I looked on Amazon for a suitable case for it to live in. Being a OAP I was as usual, a little short of cash so I succumbed to the slick Amazon advertising and went for the Amazon Basic brand. I had purchased “Basic” before and had no trouble so I thought it would be OK. First of all, it was too small for the drive although it was advertised as being compatible. It was a bit of a struggle to get my Passport in and even harder to get it out of the case, there just was not enough space around the drive to get a grip. And inside the case, which was bright orange the finish and stitching left a lot to be desired. The black finish on the outside of the case was acceptable but overall, I felt I had been sold a dummy. I think they must have got them from a local market store to resell. To remedy the situation, I bit the bullet and resolved to spend a little more on a “Case Logic” brand case. I had bought one before and had not been disappointed. Why oh why did I really think I could match it with Amazon Basic. What a difference. The outside finished was superb as was the inside and there was plenty of room for my drive to be easily removed from the case. I had wasted my money on the Basic brand and had learned a new lesson in life. I am now using my Basic case for storing my cuff-links - they just fit in!

There was a very visible bit of frayed fabric at the top right corner. Upon closer examination the sewn-in zipper tape was clearly torn.
This points to appalling quality control by both the manufacturer who should never have sent this out, and to whoever packed it at the Amazon warehouse as the damage was clearly visible.
I could see enough of it to verify that if it had not been damaged it would have worked just fine and would have comfortably fitted my portable hard drive. But from experience of clothes-making over the last forty years I could see that the zipper tape sewn into the casing is of exceptionally poor quality even without the obvious fault. I would not expect the zipper to operate correctly for very long at all.
Avoid this. Spend a little extra and protect your valuable drive data with something which isn’t of the worst Christmas Cracker Toy quality.
Even without the fault, it’s the quality you might accept if it was a UK £1 store purchase.

As soon as I opened the cardboard shipping pack, the item was seen to be glaringly obviously defective.

Bought this for Western Digital My Passport 2TB Portable Hard Drive,
Was not sure if the drive would fit in here but it does without any problems,
Also got the cables for hard drive to fit inside the case, so i can keep them safe & know where they are.
A very nice addition to your hard drive.
Very happy with this purchase, Highly Recommended!!

good case, feels rigid, fits WD 4TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive. Would recommend.

I bought this case for my WD 4 TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive. It fits perfectly inside and case feels rugged and strong. The HDD slides under the strap inside to keep it in place, however my drive fits perfect so it couldn't really move even without the internal strap, on the other side there's a pouch to place a cable, the zip opens and closes with ease, sounds daft but some zips can be awful to open/close, the one on this is nice and smooth. I really do like the materials used as it gives a sense of quality and strength which i feel is important and reassuring. Highly recommend.
