You can get similar for a few £s but, unlike this one, they will only work as an adapter for charging not for sound. With this my Bose docking station and its remote now work fine with my iPhone SE.

If you are spending several hundred pounds on a phone/tablet etc, why risk not having genuine apple chargers. I've tried cheaper ones, they charge too slowly, or heat up massively. This charges as well as allowing playback via older dock systems. Worth the money.

Having read previous reviews I was quite hesitant to purchase this but being a few pounds cheaper than in the Apple shop I decided to go for it and I've not been disappointed. I bought this to go on a 30 Pin MMI Port on an Audi A3 2013 and it works like a charm, the music plays perfectly and it also charges my iphone 6. It arrived in genuine Apple packaging and the thing is tiny, I may buy another one I'm that pleased.

I bought this especially to enable me to dock my new iPod to an older speaker that has a 30 pin connection.
Unfortunately it simply did not work at all, neither to play music nor to simply charge the phone. I was aware from customer reviews that these connectors do not work on all speakers so it was a gamble that regrettably did not work.
Amazon were very good in allowing me to return the connector for a full refund.

Works Well But Looks Ridiculous

I bought a new iPod to free up space on my iPhone 4. The phone was full of music and as I only ever play music in the house via my iPod/iPhone dock, I decided to buy an iPod. I decided on a brand new model and accepted that I would need to get an adaptor so did some research and settled on this official one. As soon as I unwrapped it I saw the problem. The pin that fits into the bottom of the iPod is in the centre of the adaptor but the socket in the bottom of the iPod is not central, it is to one side. Consequently, when the iPod is sitting in the dock on top of the adaptor, it sits to one side and looks ridiculous!

I am not going to send the adaptor back as the pictures of all the adaptors show the pin being central, but this is a major design fault, if only for aesthetic reasons. It may be that the adaptor is designed principally for the iPhone 5 and the phone sits centrally on the adaptor but I neither know nor care. If you want something that works with your iPod, buy this adaptor. If you want something that also looks good, don't bother.

I recently got a 5S and had to change all my chargers. This little device, tiny as it is, was just what the doctor ordered! Plug it on to the older 30-pin charger and hey presto! you have a charger for the 5S. Makes sense to buy this instead of a new charger altogether as I can still use my old charger for the iPad 2. I like to have chargers in the office, bedroom and kitchen, so this was ideal and saved me from having two chargers of each.

Got the one that was "Sold by Amazon.co.uk" and can confirm it is the real thing from Apple. Came in original Apple packaging.

By the way, had this delivered to an Amazon Locker near my work and the service was superb. Saved the hassle of having to wait for the delivery and so on!

This review was written for the genuine Apple adapter at £25, and I'm a little disappointed to see it now being used for a cheap clone, along with other people's reviews of the genuine product. Check that you are getting the real thing - the word "Apple" often refers to the lightning pin and doesn't guarantee a genuine part, which costs.

Anyway, I had a new iPod 7th gen for xmas, and I wanted to connect to an in-car transmitter, a cheap chinese clone that I've been using for years.
I payed the extra for the genuine Apple adapter as I have read the reviews about cheaper products and compatibility issues. And it does work for me.

Cosmetically, it looks terrible. The lightning pin is in the centre of the adaptor but the socket in the bottom of the iPod is off to one side. so the whole thing looks like what it is - a bunch of devices cobbled together! It's not your sleek Apple design, but I don't care.
Technically, it works, so I'm willing to give 4 stars.

But only the genuine Apple part - if it costs a lot less then it is probably a clone and these seem to have problems.
