Great, once I'd worked out how to upgrade the firmware

I soon found the limits of this device. Once I'd downloaded a few apps, it didn't have enough space left to download updates from the Play Store. It took me a day of fiddling around visiting various websites to discover how to upgrade it to Finless firmware, but the result was well worth it, not least because Finless reserves more flash memory for downloaded apps. I've used a wireless router as a repeater, and sat that next to the dongle, as the wireless reception is far from great. However, it now sits unobtrusively behind the TV and generally works OK with iPlayer. It does stall occasionally, and I don't know why, but it's usable and for the price, I am happy.

This Justop device worked very well for a few weeks and then just stopped! DigiDirect were excellent in assisting me in my efforts to resurrect the device, giving me links to download the latest firmware and instructions on what to do with it. These efforts failed however and it had to be returned. Because the Christmas/New Year period intervened and because of confusion and illness I took longer to bring this problem to their attention than I should have done. They were very obliging though and were happy to extend the return period because of my personal problems, and also prompt in refunding my money. I believe that I may have simply had a faulty unit but I cannot fault the supplier at all.

I bought this dongle to enable me to convert my tv to a rather large android tablet. It fullfills this role very well, allowing me to download many usable apps via the google play store, in exactly the same way you would on your phone. However i have noticed that youtube, when downloaded as an app will not actually play the video clips, audio is heard but no video is played. You can however overcome this problem by watching youtube via internet explorer/chrome etc rather than the app. I initially experienced a power failure whilst viewing but established this was due to not using the supplied power cable, rather my phone charger lead. The dongle does allow for the addition of a external SD card.

I have been streaming tv & films from the internet, and plugging my laptop into the tv to make use of the large screen. BUT it is a bit of an effort to set up, so I wanted something that could be permanently plugged into tv, small enough to be unobtrusive and simple to use. The JUSTOP MK809 is perfect for the job! It is small - just 90mm x 40mm, plugs directly into the Hdmi port of the tv (it is supplied with an Hdmi extension so that placement can be optimised) and simple to set up (I was watching tv less than 15 mins after opening the box). But it is much more than a tv streamimg device. With a wireless keyboard and mouse (at least one of those is necessary for operating the MK809) it is a fully functioning android computer, able to do everything your existing android tablet can do, including checking e-mail, surfing the internet, and playing games. I wish I had bought one years ago!!

A very good stick that turns a dumb TV into a smart TV.
Some of the apps don't work (ITV player, 4od) but these are not issues with the stick, more a case of app support.
Playing media across the local network works very well (dnla player or basing for shared files).
I can't comment on WiFi range as my router is located close by.
Possible problems of build quality as a friend ordered the same but theirs would not play any video files.
Overall a very good stick that works well even when left turned on for a long time

Basically this puts an android tablet, with any ap you might want to install as you normally would, on your TV screen. You can watch YouTube and get BBC iPlayer and ITV player etc etc (even work, if you wanted to!). You need a wireless mouse though and there is a USB port in the dongle to place this in. The HDMI lead plugs into your HDMI socket in the back of your TV. We've since bought BT youview that uses the same one port, so I've just located an HDMI switch that is hdcp compliant, so hopefully both will work.

This is really an enthusiast product. As shipped not enough works or is obvious to appeal. You have to download apps to get it to do anything meaningful. Almost anyone who has got it to be useful has downloaded a 3rd party image, and that is not standard end-user territory. A feat of engineering but so what.
The "manual" was slightly larger than a postage stamp, however, if you invest in a microscope you won't learn much.

Great idea, a android PC on the TV. It's a bit flakey though, crashes a little and the wifi receiver is very low powered so won't work in rooms far from the router, although we could fix that with some additional purchase. Plus sides its standard android so sync's to your account nicely for apps. When it works which is 85% of the time its a good solution and being as cheap as chips you get what you pay for.
