I first purchased this case from a big-box retailer and liked it so much I came here to buy another one when it broke after LOTS of use.

I like the keyboard as it's large enough to feel like a good, sturdy full-size keyboard. The keys are nice and tactile. Really feels like you're typing on a laptop.

Charging the keyboard is simple. It takes a standard micro USB cable and charges up pretty quickly. It holds the charge for several days at least and works for about 5 hours of moderate use.

The case opens to a nice angle and is adjustable. Even when I'm not using the keyboard it's nice to use it as a stand, holding it open in my lap as I read a book or play a game.

My favorite part about this case is how plain and sleek it is. Nothing flashy. It doesn't scream "expensive electronic here for the taking!"

I've found this case to be essential in choir. Most choirs use black notebooks or solid black choir folders. This case blends right in with the others. I upload all of my sheetmusic to a music reader app and join the rest of the choir in rehearsal with nobody the wiser. It's so handy!

I purchased my first ZAGG for my iPad Air about 3 years ago. It has served me well.
Using my iPad on a daily basis off and on throughout the day.
I have had the same problems with the hinge but not until the last few months.
I would not recommend this for a child or teen as it, in my opinion, would not hold up
to rather abusive wear and tear, but for me this was perfect. I bought another because
I like it's ease of setting up and everyday use. Love the keyboard - just open and begin
whatever task you have in mind. I put in into my purse and off to wherever to read a book
as I wait. Would buy again if my iPad holds up. ( ;

I AM ADDING AN ADDITIONAL REVIEW ON THIS PRODUCT - WHY- because I ordered another in Dec.
of 2016 it is now Feb. 28th and it is unusable. Screws have loosened again and lodged inside the case so it can
not be closed. I was able to remove the screw but it is impossible to insert the screw in the correct place. Unfortunately
the screw the come loosened is on the upper right hand corner where all the buttons are. It won't close even with the iPad removed.
The case is useless. I would never, I repeat, never order this again. Cost value of this item is way over what it should be, actually
in my opinion, it should not be sold.

I had decided to return the 2 cases because of repeated issues of initiating/maintaining the Bluetooth connection, common to numerous reviewers as well. We had ordered these new keyboards to replace our original white ZAGG ones (despised the matte white--comfortable grip, but not compatible with newsprint ink etc.), which we were holding each together with pairs of tension clips. Regarding this design weakness, It was too late when I finally realized that I should have been handling the iPad/keyboard unit differently--by handling the weightier screen section, rather than merely gripping the keyboard half. Pardon the analogy, but it is similar to handling a new baby--you must support its head!

While reading reviews for a similar Belkin product, I found one writer mentioning that their Bluetooth problems were not relative to the Belkin, but with the iOS updates--not so sure about that. Because we really like these black ZAGG keyboard cases, I postponed their return another day to further look into the problem. I found that when I first logged on, I just needed to wait maybe 10 seconds or so for the Bluetooth connection to kick in--same if I had paused my activity but not logged off. If the pause has been hours, then I will usually need to reset the Bluetooth connection. Otherwise, I found if I just watch for the Bluetooth icon to appear in the upper right corner of the screen, the keyboard responds immediately. Little patience is required for this adaptation--if this creates too much stress, then I need to unplug for sure. Keeping these keyboards, with the preferred key spacing and laptop feel--and of course--the backlight which has been beneficial numerous times--and I will handle it like a "newborn" to preserve the hinge corner connections so they will last the lives of our iPads.

I try to remember to turn off the keyboard to conserve the battery, as a low battery hampers the bluetooth connection.

Not what I hoped for -- until the second one

I'm having a very tough time keeping this keyboard paired with my iPad. It will unpair for no apparent reason and I have to jump through hoops to make it work again. It is also so lightweight that my iPad tips over backward if I open it too far. I'm so sorry nobody makes a solar keyboard like the Logitech I had for my iPad 3, which folded over to allow the tablet to lie flat. On the plus side the keyboard is easy to use and I like the backlight feature.
Update 9/30/16: I'm writing to say that each of these must be very different from others. I had to replace the keyboard I wrote the original review for because the hinge gave way and it was essentially in two pieces. I really wanted a better keyboard folio for my iPad but in looking at what's available, the ZAGG is the only one with backlighting, and I use that feature a lot. So, I reordered the same thing and so far, what a difference! I mentioned earlier that the old one had to be paired with the iPad frequently, often requiring me to shut down the iPad and restart it. It took nothing to cause them to unpair. I've had this one for something over two weeks, and I paired it when I got it. Period. I even took the iPad on a European trip and it stayed paired beautifully. As for the hinge, it feels very secure and tight, but time will tell how long it stays that way. I'd give it 5 stars right now.

Very nice case, love the lit up keyboard and the magnetic "off" feature. The problem is that I ordered the case for my new I-Pad Air 2 - when it came the box said I-pad Air 2, but the holes for both the volume up/down buttons as well as the camera do not line up. If I want to take a picture I have to remove the i-Pad from the case to do so. Kind of a pain, but overall I am happy with the product.

I have gone through many different keyboard cases...
Positives:
1) as a touch typist, this is one of the best in regards to the keyboard positioning
2) Holds the iPad solidly at various angles

Negatives:
1) irritating that its Bluetooth component doesn't stay connected...everytime I have to get the iPad to recognize the keyboard (never had that on any other brand).
2) doesn't rotate or flip over for different activities (ie/ watching movies or reading in bed)

El teclado no siempre se ilumina cuando hay bajas condiciones de luz. Los botones del iPad, no coinciden bien con el del "case". Por ej. Los botones del audio se presionan demasiado. Y el lente de la cámara se cubre un 30%, no permitiendo usar el disposivo. Debo sacar el iPad para sacar fotografías y tuve que romper una parte para que los botones de volumen no se dispararan por la presión del estuche.

In general it is excellent. However, I just bought my second one as after about a year the hinge on the first one fell apart. But despite that, it works so well that I bought the same one again. Hopefully this one will last longer. Also with my first one the keyboard was always connected by Bluetooth. For some reason with this second one it is often not connected and I have to go through a bit of a procedure to get it to connect. But the case is very sturdy and the keyboard works very well for typing.
