I’ve been keeping an eye on Roku but wasn’t convinced by the £50 price tag when I already have an Apple TV. But now that Amazon have reduced Roku to £35 there was nothing stopping me from placing an order. I can’t tell you whether this is any good or not but the clincher for me was the availability of iPlayer on it. I’ve heard that your wireless reception needs to be good to make the most out of it but I’m not concerned on that front. This seems like an attempt to get people interested in streaming media to buy before the Chromecast is easily available.
As I get used to using Roku and experiment more with Plex I’ll share any interesting insights that I discover. In the meantime you might want to head over to Amazon and pick one up before the price returns to the usual £50.
