I’ve had a long hard look at my iPad apps to determine which ones I couldn’t live without. I’ve left some brilliant apps off this list so that I can focus on the cream. Interestingly the three different types of app are covered namely:
- Free
- Freemium (free with premium upgrades)
- Paid
Without further a do here’s the list
SkyDrive
This one might be a shock to some but I’m a huge fan of SkyDrive as it offers most of the syncing features of Dropbox but with significantly more space for free. I was one of the lucky few that had their previous entitlement of 25gb grandfathered over as I have had a SkyDrive for many years, but hadn’t seriously used it until the Mac and iOS became available. For those not as fortunate as me you still get a whopping 7gb of free storage with cheap upgrades for those that struggle with this limit.
Evernote
I was initially introduced to Evernote by a work colleague and I enjoyed using it for note taking for some time. It wasn’t until I read the 4 Hour Work Week did I start to understand the potential for using it to collect scraps of information and let Evernote find them for you later. I’ve been a premium subscriber for a couple of years now and still think that it is excellent value for money.
Pages
This blog post is being crafted in Pages as it is the best iPad word processor. I have documents to go but find that sparse in comparison. Once you add in the iCloud functionality so that I can pick up where I left off on my Mac it really is a joy to use. I particularly like the unobtrusive word count feature which encourages you to keep on going…
