The iPad is a fantastic device for consuming content but it’s also awesome if you want to write. There are a wide variety of apps out there that allow you to create written content for your site / blog but by far the best is Pages.
It’s not cheap
As far as iPad apps go £6.99 for a word processor is quite a lot of money. You can get whole office suites for similar amounts of money but you do pay for quality.
Stability
Pages number one feature is that it is rock solid. I use it all the time and cannot recall it crashing in the last three years of use. There aren’t many apps out there that can lay claim to the same kind of stability offered by Pages.
Get it on your site
It’s dead easy to copy and paste your draft words onto your site. Unlike other Word processors (I’m looking at you Word) it doesn’t copy over a whole load of horrid formatting information. Instead it copies nice and clean. If you happen to be working on a site that needs you to upload PDF then it handles that too – cool.
Finish off on a Mac
If you are working on particularly long or complex content then you can get it automatically on your Mac using iCloud. Also it’s often much easier to deal with images on a computer – it is getting easier on the iPad but for the time being it is better to fall back on a full computer.
Re-use your content
It’s far easier to reuse content that is written in a word processor already. If you ever need to compile posts then having the, in a handy format can save loads of time. And in the unlikely event that your site crashes (and heaven forbid without a backup) then having a copy elsewhere might just save your life. You never know when you might need these copies.
