This Bluetooth keyboard specifically designed for iPad 2, 3 & 4 is case and keyboard all-in-one. If you use your iPad for writing more than the odd email then this can take some of the hard work from writing away. Whilst on screen keyboards are great, a real keyboard is still better for getting stuff done quickly.
At £12 the aluminium body keyboard adds much needed screen protection so that you can fling your tablet in a bag and not fret. It’s styled to neatly match the look and feel of both black and white iPads and won’t disgrace you in front of your friends.
If you are from the UK these inexpensive keyboards do not have a pound sign although shift + 3 produces the desired results. This is not the end of the world unless you happen to need the pound sign for financial writing. Not a problem if you are in the US, but something you might need to bear in mind.
The keyboard quality is good if not outstanding. It’s not on a par with the original Apple keyboard but it’s still a vast improvement over using the onscreen keyboard. Battery life is awesome and provides around 55 hours of use over a full charge. This works at around 2 – 3 weeks of regular use. It charges from a mini USB cable so will plug into the socket provided with your iPad if you have nothing else to hand. At £12 the build quality is fantastic value for money – granted the aluminium might get scratched but this is much better than a scratched screen.
On its own the keyboard weighs in at around 300g, so combined with an iPad means that you are still only carrying around less than 1kg which even the most svelte ultra books cannot compete with.
One of the main benefits of using this keyboard is that there are arrow keys which enable you to navigate round a page a little easier. This is particularly useful in apps like Pages and Google Drive where you might find yourself navigating and dealing with larger amounts of text.
All in all for £12 you cannot go too far wrong with this keyboard. You will not find another iPad accessory that offers so much functionality for so little cash.
