iPad Air Keyboard Round Up

When Apple released the iPad Air it is inevitable that accessory manufacturers were going to have a field day. What’s interesting though is that the likes of Zagg and Logitech have had chance to refine their designs on the slightly larger / smaller models of the iPad 4 / Mini. As a result those devices on offer today represent a few years of evolution in a more refined package.
Logitech Ultra Thin Keyboard Cover

This keyboard cover from Logitech [US Link] only protects your screen and not the back. Not a deal breaker for man, but worth bearing in mind. When you want to get with the typing there is a notch that allows you to sit your iPad in and get going. Like the others in this round up the cover connects via bluetooth and runs off a battery. With a typical battery life of 3 months (based upon 2 hours of use per day) you shouldn’t need to have to charge this keyboard too often.
Zagg Folio Keyboard Case

You iPad Air sits within a cover with Keyboard attached. The keys are backlit with a choice of led colours (if that bothers you). The Zagg Folio keyboard [US Link] case provides you with a laptop-esque experience. If lots of typing on your iPad is important to you then this should feature on your short list. The keyboard is high quality with a sensible layout, and with ‘a few months’ battery life you should be able to get plenty of typing done before it quits
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard

My personal favourite as it offers a great deal of flexibility. Teamed up with a Smart Cover the Bluetooth keyboard from Apple [US Link] can be flung in a bag and give you the same experience as if you were using it with an iMac. Its for this reason the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard is my go-to keyboard for on the move typing. Unlike the others this keyboard needs AA batteries for power. On the plus side if you run out of juice when you are out and about these are easily sourced.
